Chelsea plotting Aston Villa summer transfer raid as Bundesliga side track Blues star

While the end of the 2024/25 season may be approaching, are still fighting on two fronts.

For the next few days at least, attention for Chelsea goes onto the . The Blues take on Djurgarden in the first leg of their semi-final on Thursday night (8pm kick-off) before the return leg at a week later.

In between those games is the visit of Liverpool in the Premier League. The Reds may be in party mode after securing the Premier League title last weekend.

While the outcome of the season is not yet known for Chelsea, plans for the summer transfer window are already well underway. The club have been linked with several transfers both incoming and outgoing.

Aston Villa raid

Chelsea are targeting a move for Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

claim that the 22-year-old has been identified as one of Chelsea’s targets as Enzo Maresca looks to bolster is attacking options over the next few months. Villa do not want to sell the player, but the report claims that their hand could be forced by the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Failure to qualify for the Champions League is likely to mean that Villa would have to watch their finances to avod falling foul of the rules, and Chelsea could look to take advantage of that.

FL says : "Rogers has certainly proven himself to be one of the most dangerous attacking players in the Premier League since his move to Aston Villa last January. His versatility to play either on the win or as an attacking midfielder would also be useful to Chelsea.

"However, despite any concerns around PSR, Villa are likely to demand a huge fee for the player if they are to cash in. He will have five years remaining on his contract when the summer window opens."

Transfer route opens

Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga could be offered a route out of the club by German side Bayer Leverkusen, according to reports.

claim that the Bundesliga side are showing an interest in the Chelsea man, who is currently on loan with Bournemouth. The Cherries are still to make a decision over trying to sign Kepa permanently in the summer.

But they could now have competition from Leverkusen, who are searching for competition for 35-year-old current number one Luksa Hradecky. A move to the Bundesliga side would see Kepa play Champions League football next season.

FL says : "It’s pretty obvious that Kepa doesn’t have a future at Stamford Bridge, despite all the talk about the goalkeeping situation this season and the possibility of bringing a new shot-stopper to the club.

"Bayer Leverkusen’s reported interest will be good news for Chelsea, and could help them to drive the price up in any potential negotiations with Bournemouth or Leverkusen. While they won’t get anywhere near the money they paid for him when he signed, any money made by Chelsea will be a boost for potential incomings in the transfer window."
