has revealed that helped make up his mind on the second of his two free-kick goals against Real Madrid in stunning win at the Emirates Stadium.
The midfielder wrapped a wicked free-kick around the wall and just inside the post past Thibaut Courtois to open the scoring just before the hour mark of the quarter-final first-leg in north London. It was his first ever goal as a senior professional from a direct free-kick - a surprise given his quality on dead-ball situations.
And just over 10 minutes later, he doubled the lead for the with arguably an even better effort, this time going to the goalkeeper's side but finding the utmost reaches of the goal as the ball nestled in the net just inside of both the crossbar and post. But Rice told Amazon Prime after the game that his second effort would have been very different - but for star Mbappe.

"It looks far out, you don't even realise," Rice said watching his second free-kick back on a monitor. "Do you know what, we was going to touch and set it, me and Martin. We were planning to touch: he was going to set and I was going to run onto it and then Mbappe was kind of stood a bit too close. And I just thought: 'You know what...'
"[Courtois] was stood a bit in the middle, so I was gonna go over the wall but then I changed my mind because I've got this keeper's side...I practise it a lot and you know I just went with it."
"I just felt it. And I had the confidence after the first one, I thought I have nothing to lose, you know. If it goes over the bar, it goes over the bar; I'm just going to hit it, put my foot through it.
"I don't think it's actually going to hit me what I've done today. I'm not one of these guys that's going to be boasting, but it's a historical night for the club and to score two in one game against Madrid is a really proud moment for me."
