Android: New feature coming in Android, phone will restart automatically after so many days..

If your phone restarts automatically someday, do not panic. We are saying this because Google has released a new security feature to further strengthen the security of Android users. Under this new feature, if your Android phone remains locked for three consecutive days and is not used, it will restart automatically. This change is being implemented through the latest version 25.14 of Google Play Services.

The main purpose of this feature is to increase the security of data in such a situation when the phone is lost or stolen. As soon as the phone auto-restarts, it will go into the "Before First Unlock" (BFU) state. In this state, all the data on the phone remains encrypted and until the user unlocks it by entering a passcode, pattern, or password, biometric features like fingerprint and face unlock also do not work.

Google believes that if a device is locked and unused for several days, it may have been lost or stolen. In such a situation, sending the phone to a strong lock state by auto-restarting protects the data from unwanted access. This feature is very similar to the Inactivity Reboot feature in Apple's iOS 18.1. Apart from this, such technology is already present on privacy-focused platforms like GrapheneOS.

It is worth noting that this feature is being released through Google Play Services so that it can be made available to most users without waiting for a major update of the Android operating system. This feature will apply to Android phones and tablets, but not to smartwatch devices with Wear OS.
