After the incident of the 16 billion password leak, everyone is tense about whether the Password is enough for the strong security of the account. Just like a lock is put on the house to protect it from thieves, in the same way, everyone uses the password to keep the account safe from hackers and scammers, but the fraudsters have become very smart, after which now companies are also advising to use Passkey instead of password for strong security of the account.
Google already has Passkey feature available for users, but now after the password leak incident, Facebook has also rolled out the Passkey feature keeping in mind the safety of the users. Today we will explain to you what is the difference between a password and passkey and which one is right to use for strengthening the account.
Difference between a password and a passkey?
Password and passkey, both are ways to keep the account safe but there is a big difference in the way they work. Password is a type of code that you create yourself which includes letters, numbers, and symbols.
When you log in, you enter this code and try to log in, then this code goes to the server which verifies the password entered by you. Some people create weak passwords for the account due to which fraudsters easily crack the password, this is the reason why now instead of a password, the passkey feature is being added to the app.
While using the passkey, you do not need a password and you can log in to the account without entering the password. Cryptography technology is used for strong security of the passkey. While using the passkey feature, you have to use a PIN or biometric (fingerprint or face scan).
