The teaser forMastiii 4 finally landed, and I have to say it’s not just underwhelming, it’s downright infuriating.
For months now, the makers have been swearing that this would be a “family entertainer,” something along the lines of the original Masti. Instead, what we’ve been handed is a trailer crammed with cheap thrills, cringe-worthy metaphors and sleazy humour that feels like it’s been rotting since 2005.
I still remember interviewing Riteish Deshmukh almost a year ago when he confidently claimed they were making a “family movie.” Naturally, I expected something at least in the Housefull space; borderline cheeky, mildly naughty, but still palatable to watch with your parents in the same room. But the moment that ghastly “sausage metaphor” flashed across the screen in the teaser, my hopes nosedived.
At that instant, it was obvious: the film has no fresh ideas, no new energy, just the same old double-meaning jokes, paired with actors bulging their eyes out in exaggerated reactions.

Look, nobody in their right mind was expecting Quentin Tarantino-level dialogue from Milap Milan Zaveri, but was it really too much to hope for humour that feels even a little contemporary? A sharper, wittier script could have at least elevated the teaser, but instead, what we got was reheated leftovers.
It seems the makers have learnt nothing from the colossal failure of Great Grand Masti, which audiences already rejected for its mindless sleaze and outdated comedy.
And here’s the bigger issue: this isn’t just about one film. Franchises like Masti and Housefull keep banking on the same tired formula, expecting audiences to laugh at jokes we’ve been hearing for decades.
They’re cashing in on their names without delivering an ounce of innovation. For how long are we supposed to endure recycled innuendos accompanied by that grating “ting tong” sound effect? It’s lazy, it’s predictable, and frankly, it’s insulting to viewers’ intelligence.
Mastiii 4 doesn’t look like a comedy; it looks like a relic. And unless Bollywood realises that audiences have moved on, these franchises will keep digging their own graves, one stale joke at a time.
