Chandigarh (Punjab) [India], April 13 (ANI): A team of Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence team reached Partap Singh Bajwa's residence on Sunday, seeking to enquire about the claim by the Punjab Leader of Opposition about grenades and bombs entering the State. However, the Punjab Police said that Bajwa has not revealed any sources to them.
Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence unit Ravjot Grewal who visited the residence of the LoP earlier today with her team said that Bajwa was not able to provide a source regarding his claims that multiple grenades and bombs had entered into Punjab.
"Partap Singh Bajwa had made a statement that grenades have entered in Punjab, this was a very sensitive information. So we had come here to ask about the source. Me and my team arrived here today because of that. This information is related to National Security so it is very important for us to know what is this source and because our Counter Intelligence does not have any information," the AIG told reporters in Chandigarh.
"Information has been shared on a public platform and it was necessary for us to find out who is the source of this information. No such source was mentioned by Partap Singh Bajwa," she added.
Earlier addressing mediapersons he said that he is cooperating with agencies and that he has not revealed the source of his claims. He has also accused the ruling Aam Aadmi Party of doing "drama."
"I have fully cooperated and will fully cooperate (with Counter Intelligence). our work is to save people and help the Punjab Govt. I have told the team (Counter Intelligence) that I am not going to reveal my sources...I told her (AIG of Counter Intelligence) whatever I could. Media reached here before the Intelligence team. So all this is just drama by the AAP...This government is on the back foot," Bajwa said.
Bajwa had earlier talking to a TV news channel claimed that around 30 bombs had entered into Punjab, out of which 18 bombs have already been exploded.
Bajwa told reporters, "I gave a statement to a TV channel that my sources have warned me that several bombs have come to Punjab. 18 bombs have been exploded, and 30-32 bombs are to be used. My source told me that I am in an important position, so I should stay aware."
Bajwa's comments also come on the heels of an explosion occurring at BJP leader's leader Manoranjan Kalia residence on night of April 7. (ANI)
