ETS, the organisation behind the TOEFL test, has partnered with Credila Financial Services Limited to launch the TOEFL SUPER 50, a programme aimed at supporting Indian students planning to study overseas. The initiative offers a prize pool of Rs 10 lakh along with test preparation resources and financial planning support.

The TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language – Internet-Based Test) is one of the most widely recognised exams to measure English language proficiency. Developed and administered by ETS, the test is accepted by more than 13,000 universities and institutions in over 160 countries. It assesses four key skills—reading, listening, speaking, and writing—and can be taken either at a test centre or at home. TOEFL scores remain valid for two years.

To participate, students must attempt the Global Scholar Challenge introduced by ETS India. Registrations for the TOEFL iBT test made by 15 December 2025, with the test to be taken by 31 December 2025, will qualify them for the scheme.

The programme gives participants free access to the TOEFL Official Test Prep eBook, 12 scored mock tests, and a financial literacy masterclass conducted by Credila. Contestants will also be eligible for discounts on education loan processing fees if they opt for Credila financing.

According to ETS, Indian students form one of the largest groups of international applicants, and English proficiency scores remain a key part of admission and visa success. An ETS survey showed that 85% of TOEFL test takers have successfully secured visas, highlighting the test’s role in the application process.

For Indian students, TOEFL has become an essential requirement in their study abroad journey. Universities in countries such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and Germany require proof of English proficiency, and TOEFL is among the most trusted and globally recognised assessments for this purpose. A strong TOEFL score not only strengthens university applications but also improves the chances of securing scholarships and assistantships.

Visa approval is another critical factor where TOEFL plays an important role. According to ETS, 85% of TOEFL test takers have successfully obtained visas, demonstrating the test’s value beyond just admissions. For many students, it also acts as a credential that signals readiness for academic programmes and professional careers overseas.

By choosing TOEFL, Indian students can use a single, standardised test score to apply to multiple countries and institutions. This global recognition makes the test especially useful for those considering options across different study destinations. It also provides an added advantage in the job market abroad, where strong English communication skills are often a prerequisite.
