Weather news: IMD predicts heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Rajasthan & Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Gujarat till August 30, and over Rajasthan till August 26. Parts of East Rajasthan may receive extremely heavy rainfall on Sunday evening, IMD mentioned in its latest weather forecast.

The weather agency also stated that Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana & Chandigarh may continue receiving very heavy rainfall on Sunday evening.

Maharashtra is said to receive heavy rainfall this evening and over the next week, especially between August 27 and 30. Konkan and Goa may also experience heavy rainfall in the next week.

Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive heavy rainfall during next seven days, IMD said.

It has predicted very heavy rainfall over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh on August 24, Uttarakhand during August 24-25; Rajasthan during August 24-26.


States of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha may experience heavy rainfall in the next week, with a few days of very heavy rainfall.

Light to moderate rainfall at most/many places accompanied with thunderstorm & lightning likely over the region during next 7 days, IMD states for the East & Central India regions.

Areas of Northeast, including Assam & Meghalaya will continue to receive heavy rainfall during next 7 days. Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura to experience heavy rain between August 24 and 29.
