Former Sri Lankan batsman and current head coach Sanath Jayasuriya has made a special demand from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. PM Modi recently met Sri Lankan cricketers during his Sri Lanka tour, which also included Jayasuriya. During the conversation, Jayasuriya asked the Prime Minister to help in building a cricket stadium in Jaffna.

Many former players had met.
Former Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya, Chaminda Vaas, Aravinda de Silva, Marvan Atapattu, and other players were present in the meeting with PM Modi. PM Modi had gone to Sri Lanka on a three-day tour. India has historically had good relations with Sri Lanka. Also, when Sri Lanka was going through an economic crisis, even then India was the first to extend a helping hand to Sri Lanka.
Expressed gratitude for helping during the crisis
During the conversation with PM Modi, Jayasuriya said, when there was a crisis in our country, you and your government helped us a lot. We were short of petrol, and diesel and there was no electricity, at that time you helped us for which we will always be grateful to you. As Sri Lanka's coach, we currently play in every place in Sri Lanka except Jaffna. If India helps in building an international cricket stadium in Jaffna, it will be of great help to the people of Jaffna. This is a small demand if it can be fulfilled.
Modi said - It is our responsibility to help the neighboring countries
On this demand of Jayasuriya, Modi said, I felt good to hear these words from Jayasuriya. India has always believed that neighbors come first and we try to help neighboring countries in times of crisis as soon as possible. You must have seen that when the earthquake struck Myanmar, we were among the first countries to provide help. We believe that it is our responsibility to help neighboring and friendly countries. India is a big country.

Modi praises Jayasurya
Modi said, that when Sri Lanka faced an economic crisis and there was a lot of trouble, India's opinion was that Sri Lanka should come out of this crisis and we will help it fully in this. We consider it our duty, but I am happy that you (Jayasurya) have worried about Jaffna. This in itself will send a very good message that a great cricketer of Sri Lanka is emphasizing that international cricket should be held in Jaffna as well. I assure you that my team will take note of this subject and see how it can be done.
