This pleases the ancestors, and they bless and ensure the prosperity of their descendants.
Panchbali Ritual
The importance of Panchbali is explained on this day. In this ritual, food is offered to cows, dogs, crows, deities, and ants. It is believed that this ritual satisfies the ancestors and reduces the effects of their sins.

Worshiping the Peepal tree and lighting lamps on it on Sarva Pitru Amavasya holds special significance. The Peepal tree is said to be the abode of gods and ancestors. Lighting a lamp beneath it and circumambulating it helps alleviate ancestral curses.
