- Subsidy to benefit farmers, domestic consumers, 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims, and lawyers’ chambers
- Power Minister criticizes opposition for spreading misinformation
- AAP's continuous criticism over power cuts and subsidies
Ashish Sood, Power Minister of the BJP-led Delhi government under Rekha Gupta, has confirmed that the Delhi Cabinet has decided to continue the electricity subsidy. The subsidy will benefit four key categories: farmers, domestic consumers, victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, and lawyers’ chambers.
In his announcement, Ashish Sood expressed that this decision marks a significant step for the 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims and lawyers, ensuring they continue receiving financial relief.
Minister's Criticism of Opposition:In a direct attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Ashish Sood stated that there had been continuous propaganda suggesting that the Delhi government would halt the electricity subsidy. With today’s decision, the Delhi government has put an end to these false claims. Sood also criticized the AAP leaders, particularly pointing out the “self-proclaimed unemployed leaders” who, according to him, spread lies regularly. He assured that while opposition parties continue to spread misinformation, the Delhi government will persist with its work and dispel these lies over time.
AAP’s Criticism and Claims:Since the formation of the BJP government in Delhi, the Aam Aadmi Party has been vocal in its criticism, especially regarding power cuts. AAP leaders, including Atishi, Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, have continuously raised concerns about the power supply situation. Atishi claimed that the BJP ministers have been falsely asserting that there are no power cuts in Delhi. She emphasized that she is going to the ground level to meet people and expose the BJP’s false claims.
Power Minister Ashish Sood, in response to AAP’s allegations, defended the government by accusing AAP of circulating fake news and tweets. He clarified that the power cuts occurring are in line with established standards, and there is no discrepancy in the power supply as claimed by AAP.
This announcement marks a turning point in the ongoing political discourse around power subsidies and the functioning of the Delhi government’s power policies.
