What is PM Shri Yojana?
Launched by the Government of India in 2022
Full form: PM School for Rising India (PM Shri).
Objective: To modernize 14,500 existing government schools across the country.
These schools will act as model schools, implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Modern infrastructure
Classrooms will be upgraded
Well-equipped science and computer laboratories will be set up.
Smart learning tools like VR headsets, AI-based learning systems and digital boards will be introduced.
Technology-driven education
Video recording labs for students.
Multilingual pen translators to promote language learning.
E-learning platforms to aid digital education.
Focus on practical education
Emphasis on practical education and subject-wise practical training.
Regular project-based assessments.
Inclusive education
Special infrastructure and teaching methods for visually impaired and differently abled students.
Sports and physical education
Better sports facilities and open areas to promote physical fitness.
Budget and funding
Total budget: ₹27,360 crore for 5 years
₹18,128 crore will be contributed by the central government.
The remaining amount will be provided by the state governments.
Who will benefit?
Around 20 lakh students will be directly benefited by this scheme.
