Chelsea remain locked in talks with Borussia Dortmund over a deal for Jamie Gittens, which could reportedly be done imminently. The two clubs failed to reach an agreement ahead of the Club World Cup, but the fact they are both at the tournament has helped negotiations.
Gittens has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea and the Blues need to sign a new winger, particularly after Mykhailo Mudryk was charged by the Football Association over a failed drugs test.
Mudryk has not played for Chelsea since testing positive back in November and he is now facing a four-year ban. "We had already one entire season already without Mischa. We are going to decide to go for a winger," manager Enzo Maresca said.
"In both cases, we have Noni Madueke and Pedro Neto as proper wingers, then we try to adapt with Tyrique George. It's a position we need to improve."
And a new report from the Athletic claims that Chelsea and Dortmund could reach an agreement in the coming days, with negotiations having been made easier by the fact that both clubs are currently in the US.

There have been suggestions that Bayern Munich could hijack the move, but it is claimed that Gittens prefers a move to Stamford Bridge and is 'fully committed' to joining Chelsea.
The Blues have endured a mixed bag at the Club World Cup so far, beating LAFC 2-0 in their opening game before losing 3-1 to Flamengo, and they have been left needing a result in their final group game against ES Tunis in order to reach the last 16.
"The owners just want the best for us and for the players, game by game," Maresca said ahead of the game. "They are not talking about the final prize or the final reward in terms of money.

"They never put pressure on me or the players in terms of we need to win this tournament because of the money. They just want to try to win for everyone, for them, for the club, for the fans, for the players, for me, for everyone.
"It's not just about the money. When you are Chelsea manager or a Chelsea player, any game you don't win you are a headline.
"It's not about tomorrow, we are used to that. Tomorrow is a game that we need to do the right things to go through the next stage and we're going to try our best."
