Christine McGuinness has left fans stunned after hinting she could return to Celebs Go Dating after breaking down in tears and quitting the show.

The 37-year-old model and TV star made the emotional decision to leave the Channel 4 series during Tuesday night’s episode of the show. In heartbreaking scenes, Christine told viewers she just “wanted to go home” and confessed she would rather meet someone in a more “natural environment” away from the cameras.

She told the agency's dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul C Brunson: "Well, I’ve been thinking quite a lot whilst we’ve been in Ibiza and I think I need to date in more of a natural environment. I think I just would love to meet somebody and date more privately.

"It’s where I’m kind of feeling myself going back, when I want to go freely forward. Right. And I’ve made the decision to leave the agency."

Christine, who split from comedian Paddy McGuinness in 2022 after 15 years together, became emotional as she revealed she missed her three children too much to continue. Fighting back tears, she said: “I’ve been missing the kids loads this week. I think all the love I need right now is waiting for me at home.”

But less than 12 hours after the episode aired, Christine surprised fans by hinting that her journey on the show wasn’t over. She teased a possible comeback on Instagram after thanking viewers for their support, writing: “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has sent messages of love and understanding. To the agents, the incredible cast, and every member of the team behind the scenes. And to all of you watching at home, your kindness has been a true comfort.”

She added: “I am so proud that I went for it and even more proud that I chose my wellbeing when I felt it was all too much for me to continue.

“Checking in with myself and honouring how I was truly feeling wasn’t easy, but it brought me back to where I needed to be – with my babies and those precious cuddles. Their healing, happy power is everything. Blessed beyond words.”

Then came the bombshell hint that she could reappear later this series, as Christine ended her post with: “@celebsgodating – To be continued.”

According to industry insiders, Christine’s return has already been filmed and will air in the finale. A source told The Sun : “Christine’s return was kept top secret from everyone, so they were all so excited to see her come back.

“The cast were really sad when she quit the show, even though they totally supported and understood her reasons, so it was great to see her come back. She started the journey with them all, so it was the perfect end that she got to finish the series with them too.”

Dating coach Anna Williamson also praised Christine’s decision to leave when she did, calling it “brave” and “empowering”. Anna told the Mirror : “Every moment really does count when you’re in the agency, and in real time we had Christine with us for a good couple of weeks. She worked on herself, and sometimes you only realise halfway through the process that it’s not the right time. That’s what happened with Christine, and we absolutely applauded her for recognising that.”
