One Coronation Street star has appeared to confirm a split is on the cards for one couple and an affair, if not a new romance, could be sealed.
Abi Franklin actress Sally Carman-Duttine has revealed that while her character loves her husband Kevin Webster, it's his brother Carl Webster she's keen to get closer to. Not only that, but Sally confessed that Abi is likely only staying with the Weatherfield legend because of his ongoing cancer treatment.
Carl continues to try and split them up next week after kissing Abi, or at least trying to, twice in recent weeks. Abi has been desperately warning him to stay away, clearly fighting temptation.
But it may all become too much soon, as Abi goes to extreme lengths to get rid of her brother-in-law. As Kevin gets closer to the truth, it could see the pair part ways for good.
Sally suggested this would be what Abi wants too, while her future with Carl remains to be explored. Asked what might happen if Kevin's treatment hasn't worked, Sally said: "She’d have to just resign herself and make peace with the fact that if he’s still ill then she’s going to stay and help him get better because it’s the very least she can do after what he’s done for her.

"But if he was to come back and be okay, that would be a whole different ball game." Asked whether Abi would give in to an affair with Carl if Kevin's results come back clear, she confessed: "I think it would be a green light to perhaps put some distance between her and Kev to decide what she actually wants."
So perhaps no affair, but it does seem to be hinted that Abi is planning on ending things with Kevin. As for Carl, Sally revealed his plans to tear their marriage apart, wanting Abi for himself, could lead to drama.
She teased: "I think he loves that sort of danger and excitement and I think there’s a definite element of thrill at the prospect of them being caught. I think the more we get to know Carl, the more we see he lives in the moment and does what he wants to do."
On how Abi feels about her husband Kevin at this point, Sally suggested things "she'd forgotten were in her" had been "reawakened" by Carl's arrival and their clear chemistry, something she doesn't feel with Kevin. Despite everything they have been through it seems it's only a matter of time before things end.

Sally said: "I think she does love him. She cares for him and I think they’ve kind of got into a little routine and she was happily bobbing along with that. There was nothing to dislike but I think that Carl coming along has just reawakened so many things that she’d forgotten were in her."
But Kevin could get closer to the truth after spotting a message on Abi's phone from Carl. Sally spilled: "She is worried about it. She’s trying her best. She’s got all the feelings and she’s really digging deep to avoid Carl and to not go down that path, because she knows that’s just going to be a disaster or it’s going to cause a lot of heartbreak.
"The consequences will be huge. So she’s fighting with every inch of willpower, whatever she’s got. But he’s not helping her. Carl’s quite blatant. He’s loving the thrill of the chase and she’s also loving it, but she’s really trying to fight it."
