The day I've been waiting for has finally arrived, as the viral brand Wonderskin has finally released new shades of its iconic lip stain. As a sworn fan of various original colours, . I bought one of the already viral additions to the colour range as soon as it launched.
One of this month is the shade Hush, which is pitched as a neutral brown, which sounded straight up my alley as someone who tends to lean more towards nudes and browns for my everyday makeup look. Retailing for the same price as the previous hues I bought, I couldn't wait to get my hands on the colour and put it to the test - and I'm thrilled about the results.

Currently available on Amazon for £18, offers a broad spectrum of shades to choose from. In my previous Wonderskin review, I used my favourite shade, , and then switched to the festive burgundy-red during .
Now, I've been eager to try out the shade Hush. As someone who gravitates towards cool-toned and darker hues and often opts for nude or brown lip stain over brighter reds and pinks, I was thrilled to learn that to its extensive colour palette.
As with most lipsticks, particularly lip tints and stains, it's advisable to exfoliate or use a lip mask before application. Given the warm weather, my lips tend to be drier, and with a potent pigment like this one, I noticed the darker colour adhering to the chapped skin—not exactly the desired effect. So, pamper your lips with some TLC before you start staining; I opted for a scrub and mask.
comes with a doe foot applicator, and the liquid's colour can be quite intimidating initially, but trust me - don't let it deter you. Upon opening the tube, it appears as a blue/purple metallic hue, and I won't deny that the first time I tried Wonderskin, I was slightly apprehensive about the result if the blue didn't wash off. But I took the leap then, and after getting acquainted with this product, I've discovered that the application is a piece of cake.
As someone blessed with naturally pale lips and skin, I was curious to see how would enhance my look, as it seems like a hue that would be ideal for people of colour.
The applicator is a tad larger than those on most of my liquid lipsticks, so my initial attempt at applying required intense focus to avoid smearing it all over my face. Despite having had plenty of practice since then, the applicator's size still demands a steady hand, especially around tricky areas like the lipline or corners.
If you accidentally apply the stain where you don't want it, it can be easily removed if you act swiftly - I found a makeup wipe handy for any mishaps. However, as with most dark lipsticks, precision is key with this particular shade to avoid unwanted dark streaks across your face.
The advice is to let the stain sit for at least 30 seconds, but I've discovered it's pretty adaptable. For my first go with , I opted to leave it on for a full minute as I was after a deep shade. If you're aiming for a subtle hint of colour or don't want the stain to linger too long, you can wipe it off after 20-30 seconds.
Plus, if isn't as intense as you'd prefer, you can simply apply another layer to enhance the pigment. Keen to see how dark I could take this lippy and whether it would lean more towards brown than pink, I applied a second coat and left it on for roughly another 60 seconds.
From the ads I've seen, once the mask has dried, you can try to peel off the blue cast. However, I found this somewhat tricky—if you speak or move your lips once it's dry, it cracks, so it doesn't always peel off in one piece. However, it's a breeze to remove with a makeup wipe or a damp cloth; just be gentle if you're wearing foundation.
When it comes to the final look, definitely still verges on the darker pink side than completely brown, but the shade is altered by your lips' natural colour, meaning it elevates the existing colour and adds a tint rather than changing the colour completely like a lipstick would. But by no means was this a disappointment to me, as I liked the natural brown/pink look it gave that closely resembled my go-to shades in other lipsticks I wear.
Much like my previous experiences with Wonderskin, and didn't budge when eating or drinking, making it an easy lip product to wear when you don't fancy topping up throughout the day.
You can pick up my new favourite shade from , and for the same price of £18.
