Liverpool FC issue statement after car crashed into fans during title parade

Liverpool have confirmed they remain in contact with Merseyside Police and have issued their support to those "who have been affected by this serious incident".

A whilst they took part in the club's title-winning parade. Around 800,000 supporters packed the streets to salute their heroes on an open-top bus, but celebration turned to horror when a car ploughed into fans on Water Street. A man has been arrested following the incident.

The Premier League champions have said: "We are in direct contact with regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident. We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident."
