TikToker famed for Keira Knightley impressions cast in historical epic with Sean Bean

The TikTok generation is celebrating the success of one of its own, with one of the platform's standout creators cast in an upcoming historical epic.

Henry Rowley - once dubbed 'TikTok's comedy darling' by Tatler - has gained a two million-strong following across TikTok and Instagram. His skits range from poking fun at London life through to impressions of huge stars, including an uncanny impersonation of Keira Knightley.

The Leicester-born comedian quit his job in marketing to pursue his comedy and acting ambitions full-time, and has since added to his CV a number of Edinburgh Fringe shows, stand-up performances and now a major role in MGM+'s upcoming series, Robin Hood.

He announced the exciting news back in February, but eager fans have only just been given their first glimpse at the series, which also stars Game of Thrones icon Sean Bean as well as Wonder Woman's Connie Nielsen.

The series is set to bring a new perspective to the classic Robin Hood tale with a "heightened focus on the relationship between Rob and Marian." Newcomer Jack Patten will portray the eponymous lead, while Hollyoaks actress Lauren McQueen will play Marian.

Bean stars as Sheriff of Nottingham, while Nielsen's character is Eleanor of Aquitaine. While Rowley's character remains undisclosed, he joins a cast that also includes Lydia Peckham (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes), Steven Waddington (The Trap), Marcus Fraser (Foundation) and Angus Castle-Doughty (Shadow and Bone).

The ten-episode series will premiere on MGM+ in the UK later this year, though an exact release date has not yet been unveiled.

Reacting to Rowley's casting news, his followers rushed forward with their support. "Best casting choice since Christian Slater in Prince of Thieves," penned one. A second joked: "Cool you got your Keira Knighley face on a poster."

"Still hard to believe you swerved the pub quiz for this," a third quipped, while a fourth said: "Huge congratulations, Henry! Absolutely chuffed to bits."
