A harrowing instance of child abuse has emerged as Jorden Borders, a 35 year old mother from Minnesota, was convicted on a slew of charges in June.
The Minnesota Attorney General's Office reported that Borders faced an array of charges including one count of attempted murder, three counts of child torture, three counts of stalking, and four counts of theft by false representation.
On Thursday, Crow Wing County Judge Patricia Aanes handed down a sentence of nearly 40 years in state prison to Borders, where she will face tough conditions. It comes after the upsetting case of the toddler, 3, sick on her dress before reality TV winner beats her to death.
Attorney General Keith Ellison commented: "Borders' crimes are some of the most heinous and agonising I have seen in my time as Attorney General. I am praying for her children's recovery from the suffering and trauma they endured."

The statement also revealed: "Borders' acts included, but were not limited to, engaging in medical child abuse by performing specific acts against her children that led to them presenting with false medical conditions to their medical providers.", reports the Express.
"This included Borders forcibly withdrawing blood from her then nine-year-old child before his doctor was administered with a syringe."

"The mother also extracted blood from her children using various other catheters. These include a PICC line, which is inserted into smaller veins, and a central line, which is inserted into major arteries, such as those in the chest or neck."
The press release revealed that Borders would accompany the child to medical appointments and hospitals, where doctors discovered the youngster's dangerously low haemoglobin levels.
In May 2022, an investigation was initiated into Borders after staff at a paediatric hospital noticed the recurring issue with the child's haemoglobin and alerted the authorities.
A search warrant was executed at the Borders residence on Industrial Road in the quaint town of Crosslake, located 150 miles northwest of Minneapolis.
This probe led to Borders being taken into custody in November 2022.
A probable cause affidavit outlined the grim blood extraction scheme: "Child 2 who is nine years old was seen at the Childrens hospital with the concern of his hemoglobin numbers dropping. Child 2 was monitored with the only explanation of his numbers dropping is that someone was removing blood from his body."
Bizarre behaviourThe children also reported that Borders had them dispose of the blood in the loo and had told them to keep mum about it.
"Child 2 said he got really sick and had to go to the hospital," and noted that having blood taken out made "his body feel 'sick-sleepy.'".
It was also uncovered that Borders forced her kids to don boots, casts, and neck braces without any confirmed fractures or diagnosed conditions, self-diagnosing them with brittle bone disease.
One of the children was stuck in a cast for over two years. The press release revealed, "Another child stated that Borders would instruct the child to vomit at the doctor even though he didn't want to, and to cough as if he had asthma, at which time asthma medication was prescribed.
"The defendant also forced one of the children to wear unprescribed hearing amplifiers, which led to the child developing a boil on the back of her ear."
Subjected to brutal beatingsThe three young ones testified that Borders subjected them to beatings with charging cables, belts, and spoons.
In a chilling confession, one child disclosed they were lashed with a cord until they bled.
The mother also compelled them to stand outside in the bitter cold without clothes until their skin felt like it was on fire, deprived them of food, and frequently threatened their lives, the children recounted.
The AG's office confirmed that Borders was convicted of swindling Minnesota's Medicaid program out of $18,000 by fabricating symptoms for one of her children and then claiming to be the child's personal care assistant.
During a court session in December 2022, Borders and her spouse consented to give up their parental rights.
