The FIFA Club World Cup final is fast approaching, and an all-European tie in the competition's showpiece is also edging closer, should Chelseamanage to see off Brazilian giants Fluminense. Enzo Maresca's side are aiming to become the first English club to win the Club World Cup trophy twice.

Chelsea have only ever played in the tournament on three occasions, and they are on the verge of a stunning achievement, with their players also in confident mood. They have also already earned a pretty packet by advancing through the glitzy competition.

The Premier League club obliterated Portugal's Benfica 4-1 in the round of 16, before overcoming Palmeiras 2-1 in the quarter-finals, thanks to a late own goal from the Brazilians.

Should the Stamford Bridge outfit make the final, they would face the prospect of meeting European champions Paris Saint-Germain or the mighty Real Madrid in the final. PSG saw off Bayern Munich 2-0 in their quarter-final, while Madrid ran out 3-2 winners over Borussia Dortmund.

The two European heavyweights will meet in their semi-final on Wednesday, July 9. Chelsea have so far managed to avoid facing any of Europe's biggest sides so far in the knockout stages, but Blues boss Maresca has lauded the standard of the Brazilian clubs his side have faced.

"You can learn things from any game," he told Chelsea's official website. "From different countries or different managers, you can always learn. It will be the third Brazilian team we’re going to face. The first two were very good, with lots of energy, and we don’t have any doubts it’s going to be exactly the same."

With the final set to take place over the weekend, Mirror Football takes a look at what you need to know.
