Meghan Markle reportedly wanted her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to keep their royal titles after speaking to two key members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quit their royal duties back in 2020 and moved to America for a new life.
Prince Harry and Meghan now reside in a lavish mansion in Montecito, California, along with their two children, Archie, six and Lilibet, four. But despite wanting a fresh start in the US away from Britain's royal life, the Sussex couple were allegedly not ready to cut all ties with the Palace.
Harry and Meghan still retain their royal titles but, after a mutual agreement with the Firm, they are not using them for commercial gain.
The couple are reported to have made the decision for Archie and Lilibet to keep their HRH titles so they can choose their own path in the future, but it wasn't before they had a chat with Harry's cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.
Despite the reports, a royal commentator has argued that there are different reasons behind the Duchess's decision.
According to OK magazine, royal commentator Neil Sein said: "Harry and Meghan are very, very keen to cling onto those royal titles.
"After much deliberation, Meghan decided that the titles would be a good thing, not just for her but for both her children too."
He added: "Meghan become very friendly with senior members of the monarchy, predominately Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice.
"After this, Meghan realised how useful a title can be, particularly when you want to move in the correct circles. That is the reason why they want to clutch hold of titles."
The Duke of Sussex visited Britain solo again back in September, when he met with King Charles for the first time in 19 months.
Meanwhile, recent reports claimed Meghan is tipped to visit the UK for the first time since 2022 before the end of the year.
A source told the Daily Mail: "Meghan will return to Britain before the year is out."
It is not known if Archie and Lilibet are included in the unconfirmed plans.
