Based on the international bestselling novel by Richard Osman, the murder mystery follows four retirees - Elizabeth (Helen Mirren), Ron (Pierce Brosnan), Ibrahim (Ben Kingsley), and Joyce (Celia Imrie) - who spend their time solving cold case murders for fun. Directed by Chris Columbus, famed for directing Harry Potter and Home Alone, the film is the latest to be produced through the Netflix and Amblin Entertainment partnership.
A brand new trailer has also been released, teasing fans about what to expect in the upcoming film. The official plot description reads: "When an unexplained death occurs on their own doorstep, their casual sleuthing takes a thrilling turn as they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands." The book, which was originally released in 2020, is the debut novel by British television presenter Richard Osman. Hollywood stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan have also reunited in the new Netflix film after appearing together as a married couple in the hit crime TV series, MobLand.
