Sir is "unhappy" about Donald Trump's trade tariffs despite the protestations of US President Donald Trump according to Labout MP . halted for breaking news as presenter Trevor Phillip quizzed him on the Prime Minister's response to the controversial increases which were announced on Wednesday (March 2).
"Keir has been clear that he's unhappy about the tariffs and broadly unhappy - the presidents got it wrong - (he is) broadly unhappy with tariffs in what was a well functioning global trading system," he said.
"I suspect what's being referred to that there is the fact that the United Kingdom had the lowest tariff, and that puts us in a much stronger position than other complex, large economies, which we think was a vindication of our engagement with the United States in the run up to the President's announcements. But clearly we don't like tariffs. We're (Labour) not happy about that with negotiating this economic deal."
Phillips queried his claim the Prime Minister wasn't happy but Jones reiterated it.
"I can't speak for the President United States. I can speak on behalf of the Prime Minister and the government, and as we've said publicly, we're not happy about the tariff situation.
"But we do think we're in a better place than other countries at the starting point. "We're going to continue to negotiate on that economic deal and get the best deal for Britain," he said.
Discussing the "trade week" deal he admitted: "It's ongoing."

"I can't give you a running commentary on what's in it," Jones said.
"The good news is our negotiators have been in a very strong position from the start, because they had been negotiating with our American counterparts way in advance of the tariffs coming into force.
"We've already got a strong relationship with United States, as you know, a balanced trading relationship.
"But there's things we can go further on this, in the interest of the British economy and the American economy. And that's what our negotiators are currently doing," he said.
