October often brings heavy rain, dark skies and falling temperatures across the UK. The days get shorter, the sunshine disappears, and many people start looking for a quick break before winter sets in. Luckily, there's no need to go far or spend a lot of money to find warm weather and beautiful surroundings at this time of year.
Some parts of Europe still feel like summer well into October, with mild temperatures, quiet beaches and fewer crowds. One place, in particular, has been called the "most magical" autumn escape, and return flights from the UK can cost as little as £50. Flights from London Stansted to Bari in southern Italy are currently available from £25 one way with Ryanair.

The price is based on a direct flight in October, and similar deals can be found across several dates.
Bari is the gateway to Puglia, a sun-drenched region in the "heel" of Italy's boot, famous for its whitewashed villages, olive groves, turquoise seas and incredible food.
The region has everything from beaches and countryside to historic towns, and it's still warm even after the summer holidays have ended.
Daytime temperatures in October often reach 22C, with plenty of sunshine and just a small chance of rain.
The sea is still warm enough to swim in, and there's a peaceful, laid-back atmosphere that many visitors prefer to the busy summer months.

One reviewer on TripAdvisor said: "October in Puglia is dreamy. Not too hot, plenty of sun, lovely local wine, and barely any queues. I'll definitely go back."
Another wrote: "Visited Puglia in October. Warm days, golden light, and so peaceful. Beaches were quiet, food was amazing, and walking through olive groves was great. I think it might be the most magical place you can visit at this time of year in Europe."
Puglia is also known for its variety of attractions. Along the coast, towns like Polignano a Mare and Monopoli have cliffside views, beach bars and picture-perfect streets.
Inland, places like Alberobello are home to the region's famous trulli - round white stone houses with cone-shaped roofs.
Historic cities like Lecce, often called the "Florence of the South", are filled with baroque churches and ancient ruins.
And in Bari, visitors can enjoy the sea views, wander the narrow alleys of the old town, and visit the Basilica of Saint Nicholas - the original inspiration for Santa Claus.
There's plenty to do outdoors too. Walking trails stretch across the countryside, and you can take boat trips along the Adriatic coast, explore caves, or visit Castle del Monte, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Food is another big reason to visit. Puglia is famous for its fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and olive oil, and in October, you can enjoy it all without the summer crowds.
Those who have visited also claimed that local wines are often cheaper than bottled water, and many restaurants offer outdoor dining until the end of the month.
One tourist added: "Loved Bari's old town. Lecce's churches were stunning. Evenings by the sea were mild and relaxing, just perfect for autumn."
