Broken tennis rackets are among the memorabilia Holger Rune is selling for thousands of pounds in a bid to 'share' his tennis career with his fans. A new shop offloading some of the Dane's kit, equipment and other items was launched earlier this week.
Rune announced that he is selling some of his old possessions from his tennis career in a post on social media. However, some of the items and the prices of the memorabilia have prompted criticism from the tennis community. A smashed racket used by Rune is on sale for over £5,000. Other rackets, which are not broken, are listed for £4,300. The website claims that some of the profits will go towards charities of Rune's choice. Many of the items are signed by the 23-year-old and arrive with verification of authenticity.
Launching the shop on X, Rune wrote: "To everyone who follows my journey, watches my matches, sends messages, and supports me-this is for you. Your support means everything. Launching this shop is my way of sharing a bit more of my journey with you.
"You'll find personally signed gear-from books, rackets, and posters to tees, caps, and more. It's also a creative space where I'll be sharing unique products in the future that I use in practice, during matches, and off the court. Thanks for being part of the journey."
Several pieces of match-worn Nike kit have already sold out, each priced at £152. There are also playing cards, priced at £26 per set, posters and books.
The shop's 'about' page reads: "We're excited to open the doors to the brand-new official Shop Holger Rune - created for those of you who follow, cheer, and want to bring home a special piece of Holger's tennis universe.
