
Whether you're a city lover or a nature lover, it's always great to spend time outdoors, to connect with nature and recharge your batteries. However, it can be hard to know where the best places are for a walk, a picnic or to relax, especially near the capital.
To find the UK's best locations for recharging and reconnecting with nature, holiday home sales provider Away Resorts has analysed 182 UK destinations. They analysed them based on a series of wellness factors, including green space per person.
The study from the company has shared the UK's "unexpected" greenest towns for nature lovers, with Wokingham in first place, with a total of 85.2 square metres of green space per person.
Just an hour's train ride from London, visitors can enjoy Rook's Nest Wood Country Park and the Keephatch Park Nature Reserve.
2. MaidenheadMaidenhead boasts riverside walks along the Thames Path and parks like Grenfell Park.
It also has 85 square metres of green space per person, meaning it's great for picnics and outdoor activities, just half an hour from London.
3. StaffordThe experts said: "Stafford's green spaces, like Victoria Park and Wildwood Park, make it the ideal location for walking trails and cycling.
"For nature lovers, Doxey Marshes Nature Reserve is home to diverse wildlife, and you may spot peacocks and butterflies."
Similar to its neighbouring Stafford, Cannock is known for the Cannock Chase National Landscape, great for hiking, cycling and wildlife watching.
The experts noted: "It's an outdoors lover's paradise with woodlands and countryside right on the doorstep."
5. LoughboroughLoughborough offers Queen's Park, The Outwoods nature reserve, and access to the Leicestershire Round walking trail.
It has over 54 square metres of green space per person, proving to be a charming spot for nature enthusiasts.
