Itanagar: As part of the ‘Cops and Community' initiative, Itanagar capital region police (Naharlagun) have intensified patrolling in isolated and vulnerable areas to curb drug trafficking, alcohol consumption and other anti-social activities, police said on Tuesday.
Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo said patrols were being conducted regularly along riverbanks, abandoned buildings, railway tracks and roadside areas under the jurisdiction of Papu Hills PS, Naharlagun PS, Nirjuli PS and Banderdewa PS, respectively.
Police teams are engaging with the youth, advising them against alcohol drinking and other unlawful activities, especially during late hours, in secluded spots, the SP said. He said the youths were counselled to refrain from such behaviour and were encouraged to become responsible and law-abiding citizens.
The initiative aims to build stronger community ties, while ensuring safety and security across the region, Gambo added.
