Agartala: Police have engaged forensic specialists to examine a camera-equipped drone discovered within 300 metres of the India-Bangladesh border, South Tripura SP Mourya Krishna C said on Tuesday.
Local residents alerted police, leading to the drone's recovery from a paddy field in Bolla Mukh, a village situated near the Bangladesh border in South Tripura district's Belonia subdivision.
"We have recovered a device that has no information embodied in the body. As a result, details of the device information, uses, and purposes have not yet been ascertained. Police are looking at all possible angles and the suspected users, but it requires scientific investigation, and we sent it to forensic experts," Mourya said.
The discovery has prompted serious security concerns regarding cross-border surveillance. The field's proprietor, Sadhan Majumder, said Gopal Pal discovered the drone at 7am while inspecting his crops.
