Imphal: A 45-year-old man has been arrested by Manipur Police in connection with the brutal murder of his wife at Keikhu Maning Leikai in Imphal East.
The accused, Md Muyibur Rahman, is suspected of killing his wife, Seema Sahani (38), an Anganwadi worker, who was found with a deep cut on the neck sleeping beside him late Sunday night.
According to reports, the incident occurred between 12:15am and 12:30am. Seema was rushed to Advanced Speciality Hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Locals said they saw a man fleeing the scene, though police suspect Muyibur's involvement.
An FIR has been registered at Porompat police station, and forensic experts inspected the crime scene.
Meanwhile, locals, along with the victim's family, formed a joint action committee (JAC) demanding immediate arrest and punishment of all those involved. The JAC has resolved not to accept the body until justice is delivered and warned of intense agitation if the culprits are not booked within 48 hours.
