Agartala: Veteran sports personality of Tripura Prabodh Ranjan Dutta died early Tuesday in Tripura Medical College and BRM Teaching Hospital after prolonged suffering from old-age related ailments. He was 83, reports Biswendu Bhattacharjee.
He is survived by two sons — Kiriti Dutta, a distinguished sports journalist, and Prasenjit Dutta, an international chess player and coach of the Indian chess team — and a daughter.
Tripura chief minister Manik Saha, sports minister Tinku Roy and Agartala Press Club president Pranab Sarkar expressed condolences over the death of Dutta.
