KOTA: An Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court in Jhalawar issued an arrest warrant against MLA Kanwar Lal Meena on Saturday in a 20-year-old case involving allegations of pointing a pistol at the then sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), damaging government property, and interrupting government work, and ordered the MLA to surrender at court by May 14.
The ACJM court at Manoharthana in Jhalawar district on Saturday issued an arrest warrant against Kanwar Lal Meena, MLA from Anta in Baran district, Manhorthana police station in-charge Nand Kishore Verma said on Monday. The court directed the MLA to surrender at Aklera or Manoharthana court by May 14, 2025, he added.
Kanwar Lal Meena has not yet surrendered before the court, Verma stated.
An Additional District Judge (ADJ) court had earlier convicted sitting MLA Kanwar Lal Meena to a three-year imprisonment in the case of pointing a pistol at the then SDM at Manhorethana, damaging government property, and interrupting government work.
The MLA then approached the High Court against the conviction, but the High Court upheld the ADJ court’s decision and rejected his appeal.
Subsequently, the Supreme Court dismissed the MLA’s special leave petition and ordered him to appear before the trial court within two weeks. Owing to the MLA’s failure to surrender, the trial court has now issued an arrest warrant against him.
