Traffic suspended on elevated Ajmer Road, commuters to use parallel roads

Jaipur: With traffic movement on the Gopalbari-bound flank of the elevated road on Ajmer Road suspended from Monday evening, traffic chaos is expected on Ajmer Road during peak traffic hours Tuesday morning. Commuters are advised to set out early or take parallel roads to reach their destinations.

Speaking to TOI, a traffic official stated that from Monday evening, no vehicles would be allowed to take the elevated road from the 200-Feet Bypass Crossing side. Although the department will deploy additional manpower to regulate traffic movement, it is advisable to take the parallel routes if possible. "While vehicles heading towards Bais Godam, C-Scheme, or Rambagh Circle can take Ajmer Road, vehicles bound for the railway station, Hasanpura, or MI Road can take Queen's Road and then the subsequent Sirsi Road. This would reduce the additional traffic pressure on Ajmer Road," the traffic official stated.

Meanwhile, JDA officials have stated that they are trying their best to complete the resurfacing work as early as possible to allow the flank to open for traffic movement.

"It would take around 20 days to complete the work. But we will definitely try our best to complete the work as early as possible to ensure minimum harassment of the motorists," stated a JDA official. Once JDA finishes work on one flank of the Acharya Tulsi Setu, the civic body will start restoration works for the other side of the elevated road.

"The elevated road was inaugurated in Oct 2014. In the last 11 years, there was routine maintenance of the surface of this elevated road. Now, we need to relay the surface," the JDA official added. The 4.5 km long Acharya Tulsi Setu, connecting Vidyut Nagar and the Gopalbari bus stand, is considered India's first-ever 3-level 4-lane elevated road-cum-metro track.
