Two held for ganja use near Udupi temple, booked under NDPS Act

UDUPI: Two persons were arrested on the charges of Ganja consumption. The accused are Mohammad Anas and Farhan. The police picked up the accused on Saturday when Gopalakrishna Jogi, Police Sub-Inspector at Udupi Town Police Station, was conducting a vehicle inspection.

He noticed two young men wandering in an intoxicated state on a road near Kanangi Vasuki Temple in Kutpadi village at around 7:00 PM.

When he approached them, it was evident that they were under the influence of narcotic substances. The accused were taken into custody and subjected to a medical examination at Udupi District Hospital, Ajjarkad.

As per the expert report, it was confirmed that the accused consumed a prohibited substance. A case was registered at Udupi Town Police Station under Section 27(b) of the NDPS Act.
