NEW DELHI: Ram Shankar Bind , the 20-year-old arrested for attempting to scale the wall of the Parliament complex in Delhi, has been released after questioning by central agencies, his family said on Sunday.
Bind, a native of Uttar Pradesh ’s Bhadohi district , was detained on Friday morning after security personnel stopped him as he tried to climb a tree adjoining the boundary wall.
Police officials described him at the time as “mentally incoherent.” He was handed over to Delhi Police and later questioned by multiple agencies, including the Intelligence Bureau (IB), to determine his motive.
His elder brother, Umesh Kumar, told reporters that Bind might have mistakenly boarded a train to Delhi instead of Bhadohi while travelling from Surat, where he worked in a factory. “He cannot read Hindi… He was coming to meet his wife, who had recently given birth to a daughter,” Umesh said.
He added that his brother may have attempted to enter Parliament out of fear or in search of refuge. According to the family, no objectionable material was found in his possession, and he was eventually handed over to his father.
