PM Modi holds op review with Rajnath, NSA, military chiefs

NEW DELHI: Amid the step-up in hostilities with Pakistan, PM Narendra Modi reviewed the operational situation and preparedness with defence minister Rajnath Singh , national security advisor Ajit Doval and top military and intelligence officers at his residence on Friday.

The top-level meeting came hours after India thwarted an attack by 300-400 drones launched by Pakistan across the entire western front on Thursday night. Fresh drone attacks from Pakistan were reported again in multiple locations in J&K and Punjab on Friday night.

The PM chaired the meeting to assess the overall situation with chief of defence staff General Anil Chauhan and the three Service chiefs - Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Gen Upendra Dwivedi and Air Chief Marshal A P Singh. RAW chief Ravi Sinha and IB chief Tapan Kumar Deka were also present.

Earlier in the day, the PM interacted with veterans, including former chiefs of the three Services, to get their feedback on the current situation. Singh had met the CDS and the three Service chiefs, along with defence secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh, at South Block in the morning.
