Though the collegium including CJI Sanjiv Khanna took the decisions to transfer the judges during the meetings held on April 15 and 19, the Advocates Association of Karnataka HC's Dharwad bench had on April 17 written to the CJI protesting the rumoured transfer of the four judges.

SC sources said the consultee judges - B V Nagarathna and Arvind Kumar of the SC - were unanimous that these four judges were required to be transferred out of their parent HCs for "better administration of justice.
