US President Donald Trump on Sunday dismissed Elon Musk’s newly launched political party, the "America Party," calling the idea "ridiculous" and reiterating his faith in the traditional two-party system.
When asked about Musk’s announcement, Trump said, "I think it's ridiculous. We have a tremendous success with Republican party. The Democrats have lost their way but it's always been a two party system."
He added, "Third parties have never worked, he can have fun with it."
Trump’s remarks came a day after Musk unveiled the America Party, aimed at challenging what he called the United States' "one-party system."
The move by Tesla CEO followed Trump’s signing of the 'One Big, Beautiful Bill', a major legislative push early in his second term.
Musk—once one of Trump’s biggest donors in the 2024 election -- had a public fallout with the president after leading efforts to slash federal spending and jobs as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency.
