The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a man identified as Dhruv D. Shetty (22), a resident of Sakleshpur in Hassan district, on charges of supplying the banned substance ganja (marijuana) to Mangaluru city.
His arrest comes in connection with a case registered on June 2, when five individuals were caught in the outskirts of the city at Haladi, Padushedde, while allegedly dividing ganja for sale to students and the public. During investigation, it was revealed that Dhruv was one of the key suppliers of the drug to the arrested group.
Following credible information that Dhruv was hiding in Mysuru, a CCB team tracked him down and arrested him on Thursday. Further investigation is underway.
Police officials believe that his arrest is a significant blow to the drug supply network targeting students in Mangaluru.
