During Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s visit to Dakshina Kannada for the inauguration of several development projects, Mangalore South MLA Vedavyas Kamath accused the ruling Congress party of multiple lapses, including breaching established protocols.
Kamath pointed out that the majority of the projects being inaugurated by the CM were actually funded under the Smart City Mission, a central government initiative. “While all the funds have come from the Smart City scheme, the Congress government is trying to take credit without even displaying the Prime Minister’s image as a courtesy. This is nothing but a blatant attempt to mislead the public into thinking these are Congress-led achievements,” he alleged.
He further stated that over ₹20 crore from the Smart City funds were used for completing the new District Commissioner’s office complex, not state-provided funds under the Congress administration.
The BJP legislator also criticized the delay in distributing land rights documents (RTC). “These documents were ready by 2023, yet they are being distributed now for political mileage. When it comes to public welfare and development, the Congress government should rise above politics and collaborate with the opposition,” Kamath urged.
Highlighting a recent incident, Kamath alleged protocol violations at Urwa Sports Complex, where a Congress worker who holds no elected position performed a religious ritual unauthorized, further showing the party’s disregard for official procedure.
He also condemned the selective enforcement of flex banner regulations in Mangalore. “Authorities recently removed banners related to religious and cultural events like Kola, Nemotsava, and Brahmakalasha, citing rules. Yet, they now turn a blind eye as Congress leaders flood the city with banners welcoming the Chief Minister,” Kamath said, accusing officials of biased governance.
